Educational programs, especially literacy training, are heartbeat programs for OTTS. It was an honor to provide a skilled and empowered workforce to educate the Afghan National Army (ANA). The need was critical to enable the Afghan soldiers to be able to learn on U.S. developed training systems and with training manuals and information that they could understand. We worked in the provinces in central and eastern Afghanistan to bring them to a third grade level or better in their native language (Dari or Pashtu) in reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
Teaching was performed at military and facilities, enabling class attendance in conjunction with normal military duties. The academic training was conducted by our Local National literacy instructors who were managed by our team of American educators with prior military experience. We conducted both formative and summative examinations to test learning achievement, and the results were provided to the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan and to other interested parties.
Providing this important support has been a highlight of our company’s work.
